Burn Damage: Age Of Vultures

Thrash band Burn Damage have been on the Portuguese Metal scene since 2008 with various lineup changes. The year 2017 brings the bands first full length record entitled, Age Of Vultures, featuring 8 tracks and a running time of 30 minutes. Short and right to the point, is what Burn Damage has done here and fans of Metal bands like Sepultura, Lamb of God and Slayer will enjoy this full length effort.

Riffing on Age Of Vultures is of the grinding, groove heavy type that you might expect from a Portuguese/South American type of band, where rhythmic heavy value is always an important thing. Balanced out with equal amounts of female growl vocals and blast beats, Burn Damage keep things heavy on songs like the sinister groove of "My Own Game" or the Pantera-like riff of "Seventh Seal". There are zero clean vocals to be had on Age Of Vultures and I actually had to do a double take to find that the vocals were indeed all female driven by InÍs Freitas. Her vocals taunts rival any mans of this genre, as I had no idea that it was even a woman! Female front bands like Arch Enemy have nothing on her pissed off Cookie Monster talents.

The production of Age Of Vultures needs a few kudos here, as it is a big piece of the overall heaviness and keeps things razor sharp. While Burn Damage doesn't re-invent the Thrash Metal wheel here on their debut record, it is a solid effort. Fans of groove heavy South American Metal should totally check out Burn Damage.
