When Will We See That New Album?

When I think of those established including some very influential groups of various styles whom haven't released new material for some time I was quite surprised how many I came up with. There are many factors of course like commitments to other bands and financial strains as it's clearly not profitable as it once was. So I went looking to find out what was happening and compiled a list below from a selection of bands:

Adagio – Last album Archangels In Black 2009 – Adagio's guitarist has a new solo album in the works but I've only seen hints of a new Adagio album over the past few years.

Circus Maximus – Nine 2012 – We haven't had to wait too long as apparently Circus Maximus have been working on new material so fingers crossed for another album soon.

Dark Water – Where Stories End 2010 – Swedish Group Dark Water released two very good progressive albums but nothing since, though commitments to the melodic metal band Harmony may have something to do with that.

Dimmu Borgir – Abrahadabra 2010 - Dimmu Borgir have a new album on the go which will hopefully see a release by the end of 2015.

Dominici – 03: A Trilogy, Part Three 2008 – Sure the influences were apparent but I really did enjoy parts two and three and still need to hear part one. I am keen for more of the same but haven't found any updates.

Dragonland – Under The Grey Banner 2011 – We need more from this excellent power metal group, but apart from reissues of early albums there are no signs of new material as yet.

Fairyland – Score To A New Beginning – Yes the name doesn't exactly seem appropriate for a metal band but their albums are fantastic, and keyboardist/mastermind Philippe Giordana does have plans for a new one.

Hourglass – Oblivious To The Obvious 2009 – I can't find anything later than 2014 regarding this excellent progressive band, it would be great to hear a follow up to their last album.

Immortal - All Shall Fall 2009 – In 2015 the long running black meal group Immortal are apparently no more, due to internal member issues the band have called it a day.

Into Eternity – The Incurable Tragedy 2008 – Into Eternity are still performing and recorded two singles a few years back Fukushima and Sandstorm, another album has been talked about but with nothing found as to a potential release.

Labyrinth – Return to Heaven Denied Pt. II- A Midnight Autumn's Dream 2010 – I read in 2014 where unfortunately their vocalist Robert Tiranti had left the band as I really did enjoy his contributions. He has since been replaced by Mark Boals but I have seen nothing as to another Labyrinth album.

Myrath – Tales Of The Sand 2011 – One of the best progressive metal groups is Myrath and apparently another album is on the way, if only there was a release date.

Pagan's Mind – Heavenly Ecstasy 2011 – Another live release is due out this year, and as for a new studio album hopefully they don't make us wait too much longer.

Seventh Wonder - The Great Escape 2010 – A live DVD is in the works but as for another studio who knows? Of course vocalist Tommy Karevik is busy with Kamelot who have another new album which is also his second with the band and the second since Seventh Wonder's last release, which isn't the best of signs.

Therion - Les Fleurs du Mal 2012 – Their last album Les Fleurs du Mal wasn't your usual Therion release and featured covers of French songs with French vocals, Therion's previous recording of original material was 2010's Sitra Ahra. No mention of a new album as yet, though mainman Christofer Johnsson recently released an album under the name of Luciferian Light Orchestra.

Tomorrow's Eve – Tales From Serpentia 2008 – Very little to be found on these guys, they do have a facebook page but updates are very limited to say the least.

Thunderstone – Dirt Metal 2009 – With some line-up changes Thunderstone are indeed working on a new album, it sure has been a while.
