This is an interesting mix of improvisational indie jazz with some pop added in. Leslie Beukelman has a great voice and I will search to find more albums with her on them. The music is good Saturday/Sunday morning relaxing with coffee music. Leslie's voice is very relaxing. The opening song, "Almost Morning", is about as prog as they get. "Almost Morning" and "Soft and Not Knowing" are the best tracks on the album. The band made a video to support "Soft and Not Knowing". The heavier guitar elements on "Almost Morning" brought back some reminders of Led Zeppelin's Presence era guitar. The piano work through most of the album is fantastic.
The first minute of The "Real Thing" is almost inaudible. I had to check to see if the disc had skipped or was damaged. The other songs are good but have more of an improvisational jazz influence. If you're looking for prog, this is probably not your album. But if you are looking for something different and generally relaxing this is a great diversion from normal life.
Good music, with excellent female vocals. Perfect for relaxing and maybe working on the computer, but a difficult listen to take with you on the road.
