Metal Mind's resissue campaign of the Dew-Scented back catalog continues here with the band's fifth studio release from 2003, titled Impact. Yes, the band were fixated with titling their albums with words starting with an 'I' for some reason. On Impact, the band continued to hone their 'Slayer-meets-Death-meets-Kreator-meets-Vader' style of thrash & death metal, and it's another solid release from this underrated band.
The tempos of many of the tracks here seem a bit more fast & furious than what we heard on the previous album Inwards, evident by such neck-breakers as "Cities of the Dead", "Destination Hell", and "New Found Pain", all of which found drummer Uwe Werning pounding furiously underneath a non-stop barrage of blinding riffs from Flo Mueller & Hendrik Bache. At the helm as always are the brutal bellows, screams, growls, and shouts of frontman Leffe Jensen. His varied attack propels the crushing "Down My Neck" (which out-Slayer's even Slayer's best riffs), and his brutal growls are the perfect accompaniment to the massive metal attack of "Agony Designed".
Impact is one of those albums that picks up serious steam the deeper you get into the CD. "Slaughtervein", "Flesh Reborn", and "18 Hours" all bookend the regular part of the album in furious fashion, and Metal Mind has also included some great bonus tracks here, including their blistering take on Metallica's "Metal Militia". Housed within a charming digipack, Impact is another great reissue from Metal Mind, and a CD you'll want to own if you don't already have a copy.
