With 2005's Issue VI, Germany's Dew-Scented took their 'Slayer on steroids' style of thrash/death metal one step further. Their sixth studio release sees the band tighter and more focused than ever, delivering a non-stop platter of furious riff-o-rama, raging drum blasts, and the 'pain peeling' vocal delivery of Leffe Jensen.
By this time there's been some slight line-up changes, as Hendrik Bache is now the lone guitar player, and bassist Alexander Pahl has joined the band. Despite the upheaval, the band is still churning out some killer tunes here, such as "Turn to Ash", the bludgeoning "Rituals of Time", the crushing "Out of the Self", and the complex & massively heavy "The Prison of Reason". What's also amazing is the damn high levels of speed these guys can crank out when they want to, such as the blinding "Bled Dry" and the manic "Never to Return", each one taking a page out of the book of speed from fellow Germans Destruction.
Throw in a couple of kick ass bonus tracks ("The Torrent" is especially noteworthy") and house it all in a eye-catching digipack, and you have another must own Dew-Scented reissue for those new to the band.
