Interstellar Grains: IG2
This is a San Francisco band that will almost take you back to Haight/Ashbury. Very experimental, hippie, spacey kinda rock n' roll. There are some cool synths added in along with a pinch of sax here and there for flavor.
"Sigma" almost starts out like the original Chicago Transit Authority album, only this is the year 2011 and you can get away with saying a lot more than you could back in '69.
When it's heavy, it's full of heavy distortion.
They dabble with a little reggae, ala Jerry Garcia. In fact, "Rainy Day" must have been influenced by Jerry or the Grateful Dead. Living in this eclectic city it's impossible for some of it not to rub off on you.
"L'Escape" also carries on that Grateful Dead sound.
The epic 15:42 minute "Circuits in Time", is by far the best song on the album. It is full of great synth, sitar and guitar work.
Overall, this is mostly space prog with heavy guitars and drums. It is a good amalgamation of many sounds from the Bay area.
