I first become of this duo with their last release Heavy Zooo. That angry album caught the ear and had a certain animal magnetism that made for a very interesting listening experience. Little of that power has made its way to their newest offering though. It seems like this time around the pair is on a mission to show all just how pretentious they can be.
This jagged, uneven work seems to be created for the purpose of making the listener uneasy and in that aspect it succeeds very well. It sounds like a work in progress that never really was finished. In the promo material it says that the band recorded and mixed this in less than 30 hours and that is not hard to believe as they might have wanted to splurge for a little more studio time on this one.
There is some obvious talent in this duo but they fail to utilize it this time around. Instead they give us a thrown together collection of trite, completely forgettable songs.
The best moment of the disc is the closer "trainer" which at least brings this one up from total despair. It has a sinister feel and seems to be where they spent most of those 30 hours of studio time.
I really cannot think of any reason to put this in the player again unless it is to get my wife to leave like she did the first time I put it on. Certainly not their best effort and even more so, not a disc to spend any hard earned cash on either.
