Malhkebre: Prostration

Now that's what I call an obscure act /release. I couldn't even read their name! Good thing the album has a name that I was able to find on the net. Anyways, this is a four track album, a re-issue of a 2006 release from an act hailing from France.

The booklet is actually pretty nice and darkly mysterious. It contains images of a somber and satanic nature, almost like a ritualistic religious book or something. Half of their lyrics are in French, which came a bit of a surprise, having not noticing it due to the uneasily decipherable nature of the sickly type of raspy vocals being used. Good things the lyrics are included. So yes, this is an obscure French black metal output that might require sometimes getting used to for some listeners. Scattered throughout this MLP is a bit of an ambient vibe created by samplings, dark electronics and beastie vocal interpretations of the Dark Lord. In many occasions, the pace is set to the fast mode with tremolo pickings and the likes and the sound production is somewhat raw. This rawness is caused by low bass level and no riffing while the lead is playing more than a bad quality recording work. Malhkebre was nonetheless able to equilibrate their compositions with moderate parts and injected a fair amount of melody into their work. My personal favorite tune is "Obscurus Religiosus", for its ritualistic intro made of ambient darkness and beastie vocals, coupled with their usual fast tempos and moderate times. Closing track, "Fidèles Serviteurs" has also its moments , a fuller sound and distorted arpeggios.

To sum up, Prostration is a French black metal output of obscure extreme music.
