Mr. Death is stepping back after their debut Detached From Life. This MCD is a teaser to prepare the fan of the upcoming second effort expected in 2011.
Maybe their name is not that serious as such (ever heard of a band called Mr. Black Metal?), the music is pretty convincing. No, these guys didn't re-invent anything, but they sure came up with a kick in the a.. type of album. Short, in your face old school death metal is their trademark. Hard to resist those moderate, crushing parts filled with juicy riffing and fat bass combination. All this wrapped up in a powerful sound production bound to make your speakers pounding and buzzing throughout this short twenty minutes ride. The boys even include some black metal elements here like tremolo picking leads, rasps and distorted arpeggios. This only raises the melodiousness of their music. Although sticking pretty much to the same formula, a couple tracks actually stand out from the others. "On Day 51" and "Curse of the Masses" are where to find a higher dose of juiciness and crunchiness in those lethal riffs already mentioned.
The fans of powerful metal and, of course, death metal should keep an eye on Mr. Death's releases.
