Whispers Of Fate: Embrace My Winter

The Scandinavian countries and Holland held the sole heritage of having the best Gothic rock bands around. Reaching into 2010 a new act rose from the depths of the Gothic world, and they go by the name of Whispers Of Fate. Now they are not from one of the aforementioned countries, no they hail from Italy. I hear you saying to yourselves, "Italy, the land of the special characteristic prog rock also known as Rock Progressivo Italia", and yes, that would be correct.

Whispers of Fate are progressive by all means, but with a high level of the Gothic influences of Within Tempatation, Epica and Nightwish. The band are Kaos-guitar, Venom-keyboards, Alexander-drums and the lovely Betty-vocals.

Lots of Symphonic sounds here on Embrace My Winter, including wide soundsscapes of keyboards. Heavily pounding drums, and good rocking guitar work are a trademark to the goth scene as well, but above all it's the operetic voices that remains the main focal point.

With Whispers it is Betty, and believe me she sings. This album is more an EP at just above 30 minutes, and it is too short to be called a full blown album although it is mentioned as a full album.

With all respect for a full album I consider 45 minutes minimum if the works are of this stature but never mind that, it still remains a strong short album. Played with feeling and enthusiasm it deserves a spot in the true goth fans collection of albums.

Well played, good compositions, sometimes a little predictable, but aren't all songs when listened to carefully?
