Once again a new act arises from the soil of the Brits. Another Progressive Heavy Metal Rock band this time. The band goes by the name of TesseracT.
It all started for the band way back in 2003 when the idea for the larger concept on this debut album sprung to the mind of founder Acle Kahney(guitars). Further throughout the years his project developed into the band and into the album now in my CD player.
Let me first introduce the other Team members of TesseracT. Next to Acle we have; Dan Tompkins- vocals, James Monteith – guitars, Jay Postones – drums and Amos Williams – bass and vocals.
The music Tesseract brings us is not new, I get hints and pointers in the music directing me towards Textures, Opeth, but also the more Heavy Metal acts like Metallica, as well as Meshuggah. Looking at that we can only say that their influences belong to the upper echelon of the heavy rock & metal scene.
Although the music TesseracT brings to the table is not what I normally listen to in my spare time, I can truly say I enjoyed the album very much. The overall atmosphere in the album is dark. Deep intrinsic music. It holds about everything heavy riffing passes as well as high profile melodies. The album consists of 11 differnet tracks, but a closer look tells us there are actually 6 different songs present making up for a total length of 54:31 just under an hour. But worth every dime you pay. It takes you a few listens to grab it, but then it won't let go.
Well done guys, a splendid debut album indeed!
