You know when you're in trouble when you find yourself thinking that the best thing about what you're listening to is the artwork and such is the way with North Carolina's Sourvein and their fourth album, Black Fang. I have to be honest and say that Doom is by no means my genre of choice but Black Fang didn't affect me on any positive level at all.
If you already like the band I have no doubt that you will really dig Black Fang but for me repeated listenings just made me feel worse each time. I couldn't find anything to excite me either in terms of the songs or the performances. A case in point is "Holy Transfusion" which to my ears is just atonal noise and even gives the impression towards the end that the band lost interest in what they were doing.
