AVEDIS is a Milwaukee, Wisconsin band formed in 2007 by front man and songwriter Corey Nietupski. The band is made up of Nietupski, lead vocals and guitar, Chris Lehman, on drums and percussion, Josh Lisiecki, bass and vocals, Red Sea is a concept album as Nietupski explains, "that uses the color red to depict the different emotions one can feel when being in a relationship or in love (http://www.avedislive.com/fr_home.cfm, 2011)."
This is a good solid EP from this up and coming Mid – West band. The drums are fantastic and pounding. The guitar and bass work is also very good. Nietupski's vocals are original but do not stand out amongst the many artists in the field. "Walk Alone" and "Bound Together" are the highlights. Not what they want to hear, but they are a lead singer away from making bigger waves.
"Mer De Messonges" opens with heavy bass, drums and guitar before Nietupski's vocals join in. A good pop/rock sound set to fantastic drums."Mega Ditz" is a faster, grungier sound. The guitar licks are original but do not dazzle. They definitely found the right drummer.
"Walk Alone" is a good heavy bass and electric guitar rocker. But when the drums kick in this one really takes off. The only thing that holds back this song is Nietupski's vocals. The guitar work and drums are fantastic."Bound Together" is an acoustic change from the first three songs. Nietupski's vocals are better cast with these quieter songs. The string work in the background and electric guitar sounds are great.
