Edmonton, Alberta is not know as a hot spot for black/death metal and even though this band is from there it still won't be. The pair that call themselves Insidious Omen package themselves well with an eerie booklet filled with ominous black and white drawings alongside the lyrics and the band members have given themselves equally dark stage names, the only problem is that they don't give you the music to back it up. Chief growler and the one responsible for the dull guitar work is a guy that goes by the name of Bzath who sounds like Smeagol with a sore throat. On drums, or in the world of Insidious Omen, ritual hammers, is the one and only Ishkingghoul. Together this pair make one of the most boring disc I have heard in quite some time.
Once you have heard Bzath croak his way through just a portion of the opening dirge "Serpent's Gate" you have heard all he has to offer. Very little good can I say about his monotone delivery and his limited ability on the guitar also. The remaining two songs on the disc are just more of the same. There is nothing I can find that makes me want to touch this one again. They say they were trying to make the darkest record possible. Well, I can see why because this one should never have seen the light of day!
