Anguished: Cold

Anguished is presenting its first release to the world. The band is, in fact, a one woman act who handled all but drums, for which a session drummer was hired.

Let me start by saying this is a terrible album. This is the type of release that gives black metal a bad name. Awful cover art and booklet in general, only indicating the as awful noises this CD is made of. The production is raw; with ear piercing heavily distorted guitar work and cardboard sounding drums. Then the vocals of miss Possessed Demoness are said to be reminiscent of Dani Filth's. Well, compared to her, Dani is Pavarotti! Her shriek is very similar to a pig scream while being slaughtered…not a pretty sound at all! On the other hand, her clean vocals are melodious. Maybe she should re-consider her musical direction. To prevent this album from being utter crap, there are some harmonious guitar parts, even a bit of clean arpeggios to give our ears a well-deserved break. Much to my surprise, the closing title track is a nicely melodic composition ending with wind samplings; before miss piggy jumps back with her scream…

Not much needs to be said except: kids don't listen to this at home!
