What we have here is the debut full length from Ankhagram. It was originally released in 2007 and is now given a second life by Stygian Crypt Productions.
This band is actually a one man project, brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Dead. Normally, you find lots of those birds in the black metal arts, but it is not the musical direction chosen by the artist. A somber greyish artwork from cover to cover in the booklet and a title like that is all aiming towards a doomed soundtrack, and it sure is. Wall to wall scenery of depressive, sad and sorrowful hues, enveloped in melodious tonalities. The guitar work is crushing; the growls are deep from the guts and the ambient keyboard patterns are soaked wet with sadness and melancholia. This is not a happy ending type of story people. The slow pace is omnipresent, rightfully so in pulsating the intensity behind Dead's creations. Although the composer used a similar pattern in writing his songs, no two tracks are the same or redundant. By the time you reached number 4, "…From my Dying Heart…" you'll get an instrumental piece with some pompous and dramatic keyboards. The following song, "Last Shout of a Dying Soul", is the most epic piece of doom metal to be found. Then, to close the coffin, I mean the opus, what better than Frederic Chopin's "End of Everything. Another great composition that every fan of WWE' s Undertaker is very familiar with.
Neverending Sorrow is a great album of depressive music.
