Greece is not a country where I would expect Death metal to come from. Yet Wings In Motion is a Melodic Death Metal Band Hailing frome Greece. Before me lays their promotional outing Promo 2011, suggesting there will be more but at this time there is no record company deal yet.
Reading the bio on the band website gave the answer to a forthcoming album. The band currently play live a lot and at the same time are working on their album. The music is death metal... but is it? At times the music of Wings in Motion comes very close to being normal Heavy progressive and symphonic. Through the heavy riffing there is a link to the death metal bands, but in my humble opinion the sound leans more toward Heavy progressive.
As a suggestion to the band I would say go into the heavy progressive direction full force, as it really suits them, and most of all the voice of singer Andre Boutos is perfect for that kind of music. Growling can be used as well but do not use in overkill.
This Promo suggests we need to really look forward to your first full length outing all together, and we can only hope you guys have matured enough when the album is released.
The song structures are great, so is the production of this promo. The whole thing works as it is, and therefore is can and should work even better in full length.
The third song "Under a Bronze Sky" is the absolute highlight on this four track mini-album. It makes way for solo-outings by the various band members, therefore contains some outstanding soloing on guitars and keyboards.
I would really like to hear the full length effort upon release or before to review, as this little teaser is that good.
