CD reviewing is tremendous hard work at times, given the circumstances that you will not always find a CD on your desk that contains your musical preference. I can tell you my personal taste in music most definetely does not contain a band like Hrzig.
What to do when writing a review about an outing like Inferno? Listen, listen, and listen some more, andl ucky for me Inferno is more an EP than full blown CD with only 26 minutes in length.
Still as I am not a follower of this specific type of music I can appreciate it.
What Hrzig give us with Inferno is a mystical piece of music. A Paganfolk kind of music, could be death metal (melodic) at times. I would like to call it Pagan music. All ingredients are present. Melodic slightly distorted guitar sounds, pounding bas and drum backdrop. More of a Growling way of singing then clear voice. That about sums it up.
The overall sound on this EP is Huge. It contains some sort of bombastic atmosphere, without the bombast of the greater symphonic metal bands. Yet it stands out.
I must admit Hrzig did entertain me with their music on Inferno, partly because there is a melody line present in the songs.
A fine album to be released only a month or two after their previous one Anthems To Deceptitude. What more can we expect from these fellows?
