RonRuins: Big Shoes

Like a musical weird-out contest featuring Eric Dolphy and Henry Kaiser as conducted by Pierre Boulez, this takes some getting used to. Largely sprung from the head of guitarist/trumpet player Ron Anderson and drummer/keyboardist/vocalist Yoshida Tatsuya with bass player/vocalist Sasaki Hisashi in tow, Big Shoes feels like Adrian Belew getting drunk, wandering into a Bitches Brew-era session with Miles and blowing it all. Unlike some players (Reeves Gabrels springs to mind) accused of being irretrievably bizarre but being only a nose hair left of center, Anderson and his cronies are the real gone cats. They've gone out to lunch and won't be back. Not even by next Thursday. Is it music? Sure. Will you like it? Anything's possible.
