Every so often, bands send their demos to the Sea of Tranquility in the hopes that we'll spread the word about them to the rest of the world. Well, that's what Missouri old-school metal trio Eminent did, and I am here to tell you to keep an ear out for these guys. They won't knock you out with their flashy playing. Or their lyrics about hypocrisy, sin and darkness. Or their clanky production values, with the percussion sounding especially irritating. But the three songs on this CDR actually show some promise, harking back to a simpler time in metal when styles weren't dissected and men banged their heads for the sheer hell of it. Singer Steve Bentley infuses his sleaze-rock voice with a touch of evil, and brothers Tony (guitars and bass) and Mike (drums) Torres play solidly if not remarkably. The best track here is "Disgrace to Feel Inside," which swats at (here I go, slotting Eminent into styles) traditional, progressive and power metal. Eminent's turning point may not be, well, eminent. But this is a good starting point.
