Tribraco: Glue

Glue is a challenging, yet drawing, release by Italian free-formers Tribraco. Glue offers avant-garde experimental instrumental music with a strong influence from free-form jazz fusion. The ten tracks on the album are rich in texture and can at times be challenging to listen to just because of the sheer volume of impressions that the listener is subjected to, but that is also what makes Glue such an interesting release. You can really find yourself losing all track of time while exploring the musical universe that Tribraco sets up.

Needless to say, this release should appeal to fans of avant-garde and progressive music, and one of the things that I like is the way that Tribraco makes use of elements from different genres. I mean, you can hear reggae elements in 'Volver A Buenos Aires' and there are several blues rock elements all over the album, and you can also expect to hear Latin jazz beats as well has heavy and dark rock elements. The guitar playing often sounds inspired by Steve Howe, and there are several passages that remind me of the 70s era Yes classics, which I found really enjoyable.

Not only is this a multifacetted release in terms of musical genres and performance, it is also varied in terms of moods, and you will find both soothing and warm tracks like 'Volver A Buenos Aires' with its almost calming island feel and dark and intense tracks like 'Sergente Di Ferro'. So, there is a lot of musical variation going on, some of which really tests the listener, but the production is quite coherent and focused all the way through, and it has a very organic sound which might be a bit unusual to our more progressive metal-oriented readers.

In all, this is an interesting release which is recommended to listeners who like to be challenged and who like a lot of different impressions and details. If you are the type of person, who really delves into music, listening to the album over and over again, looking for interesting details, then Glue is definitely a release worthy of your attention.

Our American readers will be pleased to know that they will actually have the opportunity to experience Tribraco live, as they are embarking on the Music and Milles II Tour of the United States aloing with fellow contrymen Tubax.
