Off of the buzz created by their latest CD, The Taking, GnR alum Duff McKagan and his band "Loaded" have had their 2nd CD re-released in a special edition CD & DVD format. Originally released in2009, Duff McKagan's Loaded served up the disc Sick that was greeted to nice critical acclaim. Loaded deliver a great mix of Post PunkPower Rock, in your face, stripped down Hard Rock, all with a Tupperware tight Garage Band mentality. Good stuff indeed.
This specially priced re-working of the CD Sick now features 2 bonus tracks and a 94 minute DVD featuring a show from Glasgow, Scotland at The Garage from 2008. It also features a music video for the song "NoMore" and 5 webisodes, including the making of Sick and one on the '08 UKtour.
This CD version of Sick is complete with 15 tracks of Duff & Co. emitting pure power and attitude with Duff's quirky vocals paving the way through uptempo songs like the title track "Sick", "IOU"and "No More" to a more 70's Stones like tune like, "WastedHeart". Sick gives you a little bit of everything without ever losing that street like quality that Duff has been known for since theearly days of Guns 'N Roses. With awesome melodies and infectious hooks, there isn't a bad song in the bunch. This totally has a '70's,early '80's type of feel to it with nothing but good sleazy songs and a whole lot of vibe. Put in a dash of Iggy & The Stooges, a bit of the Stones, a smidge of GnR and a pinch of the NY Dolls and you can get a feel for what Loaded are all about.
The problem with Duff McKagan's Loaded is that they were kind of falsely advertised as a "punk" band when they started and that put some people off from ever checking them out, me included. This is a straight up Rock record showing a lot of Duff's personal roots that all adds up to agreat "Indie Rock" type of record. Combined with 2 extra songs, "RollAway" and an acoustic version of "Wasted Heart" and a 94 minute DVD, this is a winner of a package. Duff McKagan's Loaded is a band that you should check out if you haven't yet, you won't be disappointed.
