So Alive marks the First physical release from this emerging power pop quartet who have been around for a couple of years and were nominated for Best British Newcomer at this year's Kerrang! awards. Incessant melodies and punchy hooks are high on the agenda with radio-friendly lead track "The One" structured in such a way that it is directly aimed at receiving the necessary airplay. "Pretty Lady" has a slightly harder edge although Paul Tandy's vocals are indistinguishable from the numerous other artists that make up this overcrowded genre. For Octane OK to make any real impression they will have to find that spark of creativity and originality; final track "Parties Over", an acoustic ballad that is both heartfelt and sincere, suggests there is much more to come.
