The Wheel are a fairly new band who have been around since 2007 and are true lovers of classic 70's hard rock and 80's metal. Their brand new self-titled CD doesn't pretend to re-invent the wheel, instead pays homage to classic bands such as Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Van Halen, Badlands, Free, Bad Company, and Soundgarden. The Wheel is a 10 track CD chock full of meaty guitar riffs, tasty solos, solid rhythms, memorable melodies, and powerful vocals. Want some slide guitar fueled Southern Rock? Check out the sizzling "Love". In the mood for some anthemic British styled heavy rock & blues? Look no further than "Stand Up" and "Into the Water". How about bone crunching, grungy metal? Well, "Lost Souls" should just about do the trick. How about if you just want some beer soaked, swamp drippin' killer guitar riffs? Then I highly recommend "Walk On Out" and the rampaging "Cry On the Night".
I'm assuming you get the picture. This is pure, unadulterated hard rock, and The Wheel make no bones about letting us know about the bands they worship, and that's ok because these songs are so honest and delivered with plenty of love. If you dig any of the bands mentioned above, and don't mind the fact that there's not going to be a lot of originality here, The Wheel have put together a platter of tunes that brings us back to a time when bad ass guitars, kickin' vocals, and tunes with balls where what it was all about.
Amazingly enough, the band is from Oslo, Norway, though you'd swear they were from the South here in the USA. Go figure.
