Guitar master & Lion Music founder Lars Eric Mattsson has unleashed another symphonic instrumental guitar outing here in the form of Aurora Borealis, a melodic meshing of neo-classic guitar shredding with classical music. 'Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra' if you will. Though this format has been done before from many guitarists over the years, Mattsson has woven a truly gorgeous album to listen to here, thanks not only to his superb talent on the guitar, but also his compositional skills. The orchestral arrangements are breathtaking at times, and the way Mattsson weaves his melodic, liquid lines in and out, can be quite stunning. Case in point "Cold Water Spirit", an alluring piece highlighted by sweeping soundscapes and blistering yet emotional guitar melodies, or the symphonic orchestral strains of "Forward Thinking" accompanied by scorching wah-wah guitar. A feast for the ears!
Quite symphonic, and always melodic, with plenty of virtuoso guitar solos, Aurora Borealis is a highly addicting listen, and another winner from the genius that is Lars Eric Mattsson.
