The Horde make a racket, a loud racket which is designed to annoy the neighborhood. They are a bit like Celtic Frost and Venom's bastard lovechild with some very nice guitar melodies acting as a nice counterpoint to the thrash and aggression.
The best track is "Odin's Blood" which appears to have vocals by the cartoon character Popeye. I can imagine anyone attending a gig by The Horde shouting "Odin's Blood" and punching the air in delight. Given the lyrical concerns of Norse mythology, war, vengeance etc. it would be fairly simple to dismiss Thy Blackened Reign but that wouldn't be a particularly good idea as actually it is a pretty interesting if not wholly successful release which would have been improved immeasurably if the bass player had turned up to the recording sessions. He did? Put him in the mix then!
