Hagans, Tim: The Moon is Waiting
Tim Hagans is a three – time Grammy nominated trumpet player who has put together this fantastic jazz ensemble that includes: Vic Juris, on guitar; Rufus Reid, on bass; and Jukkis Uotila on drums.
The group rolls through this 8 track set with full on bass, strong drums and trumpet blaring well over the intricate guitar work. The title track "The Moon is Waiting", has a cool blues vibe to it which easily made it my favorite track on the album. The intricate musicianship from all players keeps you on your toes throughout the album as you at times drift off into dreamland and at others feel like you're walking down some smooth Manhattan summer night. "First Jazz" was another highlight for me. It's full of life and bounces all over the place with great rhythm. "Things Happen in a Convertible", closes the album with another great track full of the flash of percussion and cymbals.
