Index: AO VIVO (DVD)

Index is a progressive rock band from Brazil formed in 1998 by Otavianno Kury, on Hammond organ, keyboards and mini – Moog; Jones Junior, on flute and guitar; Ronaldo Schenato, on bass; and Leonardo Reis, on drums.

This DVD is a live presentation of the band's best songs over time presented in front of a live audience at the Teatro Sao Carlos, Caxias do Sul. They enjoy presenting Renaissance and Baroque music infused with rock and jazz.

The music is wonderful and well played by professionals with some added guest to help lift the production further. This is complicated music delivered well, but with little theatrics. The musicians stand stationary throughout the performance and deliver their brand of progressive rock music perfectly.

"Coracoes Do Mundo", "Volcano", and "Index – 1/Portoes De Gaza" were the highlight performances and tracks for me.

The DVD also includes pictures of the band's discography, with accompanying samples of some of the tracks; a photo album of band historical highlights; and a "making of" the DVD segment, with subtitled translations.

An interesting sampling of Brazilian prog.
