Originally known as 'Humanity', Cambridge based Awake changed their name and so with that a re-birth with a more focused attitude. Through constant touring, dedication and downright determination we find this U.K based progressive metal band in the position of album number two under the Awake motto, a technically brilliant piece of work with glorious soaring guitar solo's sweeping over meandering melodies. Don't get me wrong this is heavy stuff with enough crunch & bite to ensure most metal loving diehards some air guitar time. Opener 'Out Of Control' sets the guns to stun and encapsulates, drawing you into the thunderous pomp & stomp of the track. With their metal teeth bared for all to see 'Release Me' chugs though the barriers awash with keyboard interludes.
Harnessing some wonderful melodies with the odd sprinkle of mellower atmospheric laden tracks, Awake have most bases covered for every fan of guitar driven progressive music. To the idiot that proclaimed rock music was dead, Awake prove the point that they are the next generation waiting to fill the places by any band disillusioned enough to throw in the towel. Forever More is certainly worth parting with your hard earned cash for, progressive metal's future is secure in these able hands.
