Following wave after wave of metalcore, hardcore, deathcore, whatevercore bands, Heartless are a fucking blessing. This is a punch in the face, and a very welcome one at that. Furious from the outset, this is all-out aggression, they are pissed and they don't have to pretend. With elements of sludge, grind, doom, and just about any genre that Heartless have deemed necessary to use for and capable of containing their barrage, the rusted band saw bass sound, the shredded guitar tone, the jaw-breaking drumming, and the maniac-at-the-end-of-his-tether-and-about-to-explode vocals are ruthlessly uncompromising in this twenty one-minute battery. A flurry of fists, blood, broken bones, and accurate accusions, this is the soundtrack to a fight, that remorseless release of anger, despair, and the uneasy acknowledgement of the frustration and futility of bashing someone's head incessantly against the wall in the full knowledge that, should it ever come to an end, they still won't get it. Had he heard Hell Is Other People, maybe Sartre would have realised what it really means to be pissed off…
