As the title indicates Promo 2010 was released last year (but, as far as I understand, Wings in Motion released another promo in 2011). There are two tracks on Promo 2010, and, while I have seen Wings in Motion described as a death metal band and a melodeath band, I do not really hear many death metal elements, or even melodeath elements, on this release.
Rather, the two tracks on this release, sound more like very dark power metal tracks (for instance, 'Manhunt' sounds slightly inspired by Iced Earth in some places). There is a lot of emphasis on melody (slightly similar to what a lot of death-doom bands did back in the 90s) - in the form of melodic guitar leads as well as keyboard melodies and other synths - but some of the riffage is much heavier than in power metal and more akin to heavier post-thrash metal. And, I think that the riffage and the melody are the two biggests strengths of the tracks on this promo release.
The only death metal elements that pops up on this release is the use of harsh vocals, which are juxtaposed with a cleaner and more rock-ish singing style. I must admit that I prefer the latter, as the harsh vocals are shrill and, well, too oinky for my taste.
In all, the two tracks on this release are pretty good and, while not perfect, definitely interesting.
