TRC, or The Revolution Continues, is a British hardcore band whose style is probably best described as modern crossover, as their approach to the blend of hardcore and metal takes an up-to-date place-in-2011 starting point, and, thus, compared to many acts who embrace the NYC hardcore or California skate punk styles (nothing wrong with that, by the way), TRC's Bright Lights is pretty innovative.
There is plenty of attitude - genuine British angry street attitude, that is - both in terms of riffage and vocals, the vocal performance being free of any sort of Americanisms and thus quite authentic and honest in addressing issues that, I assume, Brits can relate to (some of the vocals are reminiscent of rap and the rhymes are delivered in a fashion that makes any present-day rapper appear like a illiterate 10-year old who never made it out of first grade).
In addition to traditional hardcore elements, there is plenty of palm-muted brutality, heavy and groovy riffage, and there is some melody as well as well as metalcore-ish things and even some alternative metal elements (in addition to the rap-like vocals).
Bright Lights is an innovative and interesting, yet authentic and true, hardcore/crossover release which fuses modern metal and metalcore with hardcore punk. Fans of Discharge, Agnostic Front, he Exploited and the like should give this release a listen.
