Do you know the Brazilian band Angra?
No. Ok, have you heard of Edu Falashi? Probably not as you do not know Angra.
Like Angra, Almah is Brazilian. Yes, true. What a surprise ain't it.
Originating as the side project for Angra vocalist Falaschi, Almah have transformed into a full blown band. Motion is already the third full album by this band. Next to Falaschi we have Marcelo Moriera on drums, Felipe Andreoli on Bass and Paulo Schröber & Marcello Barbosa on guitar. Every time keyboards are heard Falaschi or Andreoli take care of that.
The music of Almah lets itself best be described as a combination of Metallica, Queensryche, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, maybe even Dream Theater. Heavy and riffing at times, highly melodic at the other hand. But mostly you can say it is a flavour of music that we can absolutely hear a lot lately. Some of it good some of it absolute rubbish.
That Almah know what they are doing is very obvious when you listen to the album. All tracks havean instant hook and will be picked up and listened to more by the regular Heavy Metal fan. There's no harm in going out of your way to check out this album, but in reality it is not essential to your collection unless you're a fan of Almah. But it definitely is worth your while to check out. You'll get a lot of similarities to the bands I have already mentioned, but they still have their own sound.
