The past few months have seen a plethora of top notch female-fronted symphonic/Gothih metal releases such as Nightwish's Imaginerium, Within Temptation's The Unforgiving whilst Nemesea have released The Quiet Resistance not to mention Lullacry's forthcoming Where Angels Fear is sure to create waves as well. Can Italians Evernoire keep up the quality? Yes they can!
There are places on the web which would suggest that Vitriol is nothing short of being the Second Coming and whilst I would in no way subscribe to that view there is much to enjoy within the confines of this album which could lazily yet accurately be describe as a cross between Nightwish and Skyclad. I say that in the sense that the general atmosphere of the piece is more memorable immediately than the actual songs and I don't mean that as a nasty piece of criticism as the songs eventually connect with the listener over time and I don't know about you but I like albums which reveal their beauty over time. Vitriol certainly does and keeps the recent female-fronted momentum going but I'll wager that there is more to come from the band in the future.
