Let's face it Portugal is not what we would call a hot bed for metal bands; it could do with an inspirational band to rise through with a clenched metal fist. So it comes as no surprise that Karnak Seti with their second full length offering, In Harmonic Entropy, have exploded back with a prime slab of Scandinavian influenced metal. Yes I know Portugal is nowhere near Scandinavia but hell, it sounds like these guys have been reading directly from the book of In Flames & Soilwork. 'Only Red Mist Descends' is punchy and precise, the guitars and production offer new depths of much needed crunch. It's slightly industrial fast paced delivery ensures that it stands up to all the other modern metal offerings out there. 'Stranded By Existence' has some glorious guitar work as does most of the album, which has come as a complete surprise. With an absolute metal vocal delivery this album has taken quite a few spins to fully realize what an achievement it is. Karnak Seti have delivered something that will appeal to many fans of the Gothenburg style of metal, sometimes things just take you completely unawares and In Harmonic Entropy is one of those albums.
