Mess: Küsi Eneselt

Mess is an Estonian progressive rock band from the 1970s, which were a great inspiration to many of the future progressive artists that would emerge from behind the "Iron Curtain" of Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The re-launch of this band's seminal album Küsi Eneselt, is a tribute to the influence the work had upon many artists in the genre. Mess included band members: Matti Timmermann, on bass and voices; Sven Grünberg, on compositions, lead voice, 12 string guitar, and electronics; Elmu Värk, on guitar; Andrus Vaht, on drums and percussion; and Ivar Sipra, playing drums on tracks 1,2,4,6,and 7. This album was originally released on vinyl as a double album back in 1975 – 76.

This is a great time machine showcasing the influence of English artists like ELP and Yes, while at the same time also adding multi – dimensional layers to the sound with well interspersed bells, multi – layers of percussion, oboe, English and French Horns, and church pipe.

With this album you can sit back and enjoy music the way it used to be made, by hand, with painstaking accuracy and professional brilliance. Thank you for sharing this stunning collection of art with those of us in the West, who may have missed its introduction.
