From Sweden comes this new female fronted metal band who wishes that their self titled debut disc will make you stand up and take notice. About the only thing you will notice is how this group sounds so much like the multitude of other acts in the genre. Even though they do produce a very listenable product, there is nothing on this disc to differentiate themselves. The vocals of Elin Redin is well suited for their style and she has a powerful delivery but it is nothing that sets them apart. The guitar work by Erik Tordsson is good by does nothing to grab you. There is also some keyboard work which is uncredited and goes from worthwhile to annoying at times.
I found the songs on this album really blend together after a few listens. Of course the tunes are different but they all follow a certain pattern and it is one which is not unique by any standards. The female vocals that dominate with Tordsson providing an occasional growl, the basic guitar riffs that are tried and true staples which have been played elsewhere numerous times and songs that will have you playing the "this sounds like _________ game". This is the main problem with the disc as they do not have their own sound as much as they seem to just want to mimic the success of other bands.
The bright spots of the disc are the powerful "Waiting For The Rain" and the retro heavy metal of "Silence". Here the provide at least a measure of individuality but even this pair of songs are not what you would call electrifying. The remainder of the disc is run-of-the-mill metal that is neither terrible (except the overindulgence of keyboards) or something that sticks with you. If ever an album could be called just average, this is it.
