In a perfect world, the self titled debut from My Dynamite would be lighting up the charts, with many of the songs in constant play on both radio and satellite music channels, easily becoming the feel good rock album of the summer of 2012. Well, we all know that's probably not going to happen, but it's a damn shame because My Dynamite is one hell of a strong classic rock album.
These guys no doubt worship at the chapel of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, Black Crowes, The Faces, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Free, Grand Funk Railroad, and Bad Company, but that's ok, as My Dynamite throw in little bits of these classic bands but have a swagger and delivery all their own. "If We're Living" contains some great hooks and memorable riffs, while "Take It or Leave It" and "Inside Out" will make you want to take the car our for a long drive with the windows down and the volume cranked way up. "Watch Yourself Grow" has plenty of raunchy Southern Rock vibes, including some sizzling slide guitar licks, while "Raise Your Glasses" is sure to get your toes tapping and your groove on just like vintage Stones, Faces, and Crowes. Throw in some rootsy yet still highly melodic pieces like "Fork in Your Tongue", "All That She Brings" and "Big Attraction", and you have a well balanced and varied collection of classic rock songs that is sure to please any lover of '70s and '80s rock music.
Kind of an odd fit on Listenable Records, but that matters not, as My Dynamite are the real deal. If you can't get enough old school styled hard rock & Southern Rock, definitely check this one out.
