Catheter: Southwest Doom Violence
Since 1999, Catheter have released countless splits, an EP, and two albums, their last full length being 2005's Dimension 303, a grindcore album that was as sick as it was mindfuckingly brutal. Having been at it for so long, you'd think that they'd find it challenging to make every track count and hit as hard, if not harder than they ever did. But nope, not Colorado's Catheter. After the ambient 'Intro', 'Encapsulation' begins as a dirge that quickly gives way to all-out rapid fire grindcore crusted chaos. The tracks are as savage as they are short – 17 tracks in 28 minutes says it all, doesn't it? The abrasive chainsaw riffs are rabidly aggressive and combined with as much groove as they can vomit, tracks such as 'Prosthetic Mind', 'Conspiracy Control' and 'Doom to Grind' are destined for pit violence. The vocals gurgle, scream, and grunt their way across the gut-wrenching meaty hooks that spike this chaotic wave of ruthless demolition. Turn it up and let it demolish your speakers, and your neighbours', and your neighbours' houses too. Fuck 'em.
