Ashen Empire is the second album from the Finnish metal band Morian. Produced and engineered by Aksu Hanttu of Entwine, Ashen Empire follows the 2007 debut album Sentinels of the Sun, which, I must confess totally passed me by. Reminiscent of the Danish band Mercenary Morian purvey clean vocals, screams and a healthy dose of melody. That said, this isn't as good as any of Mercenary's output including their most recent effort Metamorphosis which not many people had much love for.
The main problem is that there isn't anything on the album to make it stand out from the pack although I can see the appeal that it may well hold to angsty teens rather than middle-aged duffers like myself.
