Enman; Brent: Wildman

First and foremost a drummer, Brent "Wildman" Enman has over the years learned to turn his hand to most things rock 'n' roll, resulting in him handling all the instruments and vocals on this worthy debut collection of straight up rock. In terms of comparisons, well it is plain to hear that the "Wildman" has spun the odd early Dokken album, with a similar guitar tone to George Lynch and vocal style similar to the DD himself. However Brent decides to take a more free and easy approach, with the end product being an album that certainly rocks, but not in an overbearing, or indeed clichéd manner. Yes there's little in "All For The Show", "Takin' Home" or Man Of The Past" that you haven't heard before. However decent music with plenty heart and soul poured into it will always make for convincing listening and that is exactly what Wildman serves up. Tried, tested and reliable, but damn good fun and pretty shrewd in places too, this is an album that has you gently rockin' along, although the honest and insightful lyrics to songs like "I Lost My American Dream" and "If I Die Tomorrow" don't hurt either.

Now whether Brent is primarily a drummer or not, it has to be said that the little guitar licks and classy solos that pepper this album really are one of its main strengths. Vocally he may not be the most individual, or exciting performer, but crucially Brent knows his limitations and writes songs that suit his limited range extremely well. The biggest compliment that I can pay the "Wildman's" separate contributions to this album is that it wasn't until I flicked open the digi-pack and noticed that the picture inside showed the same face behind every instrument, that I realised this wasn't a proper band project. Not something that can be said for all of the many one-man band albums these days.

I can honestly tell you that Wildman isn't an album that is going to shake your world, or blow you away with its innovative outlook. However if a blast of good honest, from the heart, rock, with a classy understated feel, sounds appealing, then Wildman is a release that you are going to end up gravitating back to much more often than initial impressions would have you believe.
