Generation of Vipers: Howl and Filth

This post-metal band blessed themselves with a good opening track. As "Ritual" assembles, the thick percussion and overall full sounding, rumbling guitars establishes, to put it in a stupid way, a seriousness that can actually be taken seriously that other contemporaries generally fluff. In that light, a lot of the record's bag of tricks is familiar, yet also not more of the same, meaning its atmosphere is a main success and the post-metal vocals aren't generically used. The atmosphere is very much of a turbulent desert where the simplistic riff style is the gale and the vocals the sand thrown in your face, and the band is very conscious of how and when to change it up, like in the appropriately minimalist flow of "Slow Burn" or the violin/piano-interlude track "All Of This Is Mine." It's hard to elaborate on much else since it's rather simple - for its own benefit - and it's one of those listen-to-experience records, but even those not accustomed to post-metal would do themselves a favor to try this out. I'd be quite curious to see how they could pan out into something more complex.
