Forge is the first ever 7" vinyl release from the folks at Handshake Inc., and it features two tracks from sludge/crust/noise act Rwake, recorded live in Bozeman, Montana in June 2004. Both songs were from their then newly released debut If You Walk Before You Crawl You Crawl Before You Die, and as far as live recordings go this is decent, with an 'in your face' type of presentation as if you were there in the crowd, warts and all, with plenty of crowd noises, feedback, and all the chaos going on with the band onstage. Rwake themselves were a little more raw and chaotic perhaps than they are today, and the two songs here are plenty brutal and manic, with lots of sludgy guitar tones, screaming punk styled vocals, and crashing drum fills. It's a pretty noisy affair, with not much subtlety going on except for some bluesy guitar solos midway on "Imbedded", but if you like your sludge noisy and furious, then these early live recordings from Rwake will surely tickle your fancy.
