P.O.D. I remember them. "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation" plagued our house a number of years ago courtesy of my elder child's love of those songs. Then in my mind P.O.D. disappeared off the radar completely. They didn't in reality and have remained active throughout although ,i>Murdered Love is their first release in four years. The band remains actively Christian in their lyrics and indeed at times it's as if Nu Metal never faded away.
One of the unfortunate traits of Nu Metal was the need for the lyrics to fit into the cross genre rap style required. Sometimes, even now, Mr Cringe comes out to play. Need an example? Try this on for size:
The death sen.tence
Cap.it.al pun.ish.ment
Give to blood.shed
con.vict the inn.o.cent
Sometimes the sledgehammer to crack a nut detracts from what is in places a thoughtful, contemplative album with a host of guest artists such as Hatebreed's Jamy Jasta and Cypress Hill's Sen Dog. I don't see any "hits" here but Murdered Love can definitely be described as a solid record and if you like the rest of their canon there's nothing to suggest that you won't enjoy this.
