Posthum's sound is referred to as "melancholic, atmospheric and hypnotizing Norwegian Black Metal" which pretty well sums up what this band are doing musically. Posthum are another Norwegian band performing Black Metal offering a welcome difference with their evil vocals.
Don't go into this one expecting to experience another haunting blast beat fest as "Untame" shows this band is happy to keep proceeding easing along at a slower pace even quite tranquil moments surface than delving in at full throttle, though that speed that so many other bands perform at does show it's head but not nearly as prevalently as is usually the case. "Down Of Blood" is one of the few times when this band really cut loose and bring the Black Metal so to speak. Instrumental "Afterglow" shows this kind of music is so suited to what can also be done without vocals and is one of Lights Out's best tracks.
Posthum's material is more about creating an imposing melancholic at times sound to draw the listener in with other influences intertwined besides the darkest of metal genres which is still most dominate ingredient. So Lights Out may not appeal to those who just want more straightforward rampant Black Metal while others looking for something that is outside the norm should give Lights Out a try.
