Dead End Finland are on the prolific Inverse Records label and they are in the midst of recording their second album whilst here we have their debut from 2011. I have very much appreciated listening to this over the last while. The band reminds me of Denmark's Mercenary with their use of light and shade and clean and growled vocals. The opening lyrics suggest the kind of ride the listener is in for;
"It's crawling in never getting out like a cancer which spreads inside
Never count on luck, never trust the faith check another side then I choose my way
I try to control it and it's getting worse like a taste of fear before it bursts
Taking hold of me, never let's me go it's just a cruel start of this show"
As you can see we aren't in Weird Al territory here but what we do get is passionate, hard-rocking yet melodic modern metal underpinned by Janno Hanninen's dextrous keyboards. There is more than enough quality on Stain of Disgrace for those of an angsty rage to purchase now and I think that they are ones to watch out for because they very much know their way around a tune.
