War Nation Live is a solid DVD featuring performances of legendary NWOBHM band Tank in Poland in 2011 & 2012. Now two releases in with new vocalist Doogie White (ex-Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker) Tank are in the midst of a revival and show no signs of slowing down. If you've heard War Machine and War Nation, you no doubt have experienced first hand that Tank are delivering strong, classic heavy metal that's as good if not better than anything they've produced in the past. The main part of this DVD is a full show filmed at Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland, and features the line-up of White, original members Mick Tucker & Cliff Evans on guitars, bassist Chris Dale (ex-Bruce Dickinson), and drummer Steve Hopgood. Tank chug through stellar tracks like "Feast of the Devil", "This Means War", "Phoenix Rising", "Great Expectations", "Don't Dream in the Dark", "Power of the Hunter", and "The War Drags Ever On", all heavy hitters with massive riff-o-rama and White's commanding vocal presence. Over on the special features, you get interviews with the two founders as well as White, the offical "War Nation" video, studio footage, and a few songs from the bands appearance at the Metal Hammer 2011 festival, which ironically, is much better video quality than the main set at Stodola.
For any loyal Tank fan, this will be a must see, and for those who might have always thought that the band was just another lumbering NWOBHM afterthought, this will be a pleasant surprise, as Tank are a new beast with Doogie White as the frontman.
