From the folks at Unique Leader comes the latest from Pennsylvania technical death metal act Kamikabe, Aberration of Man. This is pretty pulverizing stuff that isn't reinventing the wheel, but still enjoyable for anyone into brutal, complex music. Can't say I dig the vocals much from Matt Grossi, which are more of a screamy/growly hardcore bellow than actual death metal growl, but the twin guitar work of Max Short &
Jake Smatana is actually quite good, as the two deliver punishing riffs and a myriad of intricate fills and solos. A few of the tunes are not overly memorable, save for the jaw dropping guitar work, but thankfully you have "Leprous Divinity", "The Rot", "Nefarious", and the epic "Ungoliant" which really push all the right buttons with jackhammer rhythms and excellent stop/start riffs & breakneck passages. Overall Aberration of Man is a fun tech-death release, but a bit inconsistent, and I'm not sold on the vocals. For my money, I'd rather listen to Deeds of Flesh, Suffocation, Decapitated, Spawn of Possession, Nile, or Obscura, but that's just me.
