Yurei: Night Vision

I will get this statement out of the way right at the beginning: I truly detested listening to Night Vision. While that statement may seem a bit on the strong side, it is in fact my true feelings while listening to this release. From the opening strains of the instrumental "Insomniac Bug Hunt" to album closer "Cranial Echoes", I really couldn't wait for the album to end.

Night Vision is an odd, jazzy and avant-garde sounding album that a prog fan would probably love. But, personally I found the jazzyness and odd sounds to be grating. Of particular note are the vocals which just sound weird to me.

Apparently I'm in the minority in thinking the album is horrible as all reviews I've seen praise this album. Perhaps someone who is more into the weird proggy stuff would enjoy this album more than I. Personally I don't think I will be listening to this again in the future.
