Saille are a Belgian symphonic & melodic black metal act, and Ritu is their sophomore effort, out now on Code666 Records. Once you get past the glorious cover art (which really is striking) the music contained on the CD is equally as wonderful. This is majestic, powerful stuff folks, easily as massive sounding as some of the best from Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Enslaved, and Borknagar. Yes, I know that's saying a lot, but if this band keeps continuing on and delivering music this good, there's no reason why fans of those bands I just mentioned won't be falling in love with Saille. Plenty of sweeping keyboard orchestrations, raging guitar riffs, manic drum blasts, and some seriously potent growls and screams make for a truly satisfying listening experience. Of course, the songs have to be memorable, and tracks such as "Subcutaneous Terror", "Blood Libel" and "Upon The Idol Of Crona" are as good as anything I've heard in the genre in some time. Also, if you like sizzling, melodic guitar solos in your black metal, you get lots of them here as well. Throw in some crushing doom/death metal riffs and prog rock styled keyboards on the amazing "Ritual Descent" and you have a top to bottom excellent symphonic black metal effort from this little band from Belgium who hopefully won't be obscure for long.
